Watering Cans
A watering can is a portable container, also called a watering pot, and is usually made with a handle and spout. Watering cans are used to water plants by hand, and are the preference of many garden owners and greenhouse owners who prefer to water their plants by hand rather than run water constantly. Watering cans have been used as far back as the 17th century and the modern design have been greatly improved. Watering cans may have a device called a rose, which is located at the end of the spout and connects the bottom of the container through a tube. The rose contains a cap with small holes which allows watering cans to break up the stream of water into droplets. This saves on excess water, not only for you having to refill, but also from putting too much pressure on delicate plants or soil.
Types Of Watering Cans To Choose From
Water cans can differ in size, color and material. Some containers are only 0.5 liters, designed for household plants. These might be called small watering cans or a mini watering can. However, for heavier garden use up to 10 liters could be contained. Large or mini watering cans may be made of ceramic, metal or plastic.
